INTRODUCING THE MULTI-JOIST |
|
| |
Multi-joist, developed by RMD, is specifically designed to replace twin 152 x 75mm timbers. Multi-joist stops timber wastage on site and ensures continuity of usage, keeping labour costs to a minimum.
Versatile in use, Multi-joist lends itself particularly to soldier, beam and waling applications, and is ideal for use in confined working areas. Holes are provided at 50mm centres along the flanges. These are offset to give a more rigid fixing to the timber. Fabricated from pressed steel plate. Multi-joist is of all welded construction. The result is a beam which has a high strength to weight ratio, is easy to handle, simple to erect and reliable in use. Real economy and performance can be achieved by the Multi-joist's capability to perform economically on a wide variety of constructional applications.

SPECIFICATION
Working Moment of Resistance for all lengths:
5 1 kNm F of S = 2
Ultimate figure, an average derived from tests 10.1 kNm
Recommended Maximum Tie Load:
3048 kg F of S = 2
Ultimate figure, an average derived from tests 6096 kg
Deflections when the Multi-joist has a uniformly distributed load developing a bending moment of 5.1 kNm
Average measured deflection of a 1270
Multi-joist spanning 1118mm = 3.56 mm
Average measured deflection of a 1830
Multi-joist spanning 1676 mm = 5.59 mm
Average measured deflection of a 2440
Multi-joist spanning 2286 mm = 7.62 mm
In order to limit deflection, it is recommended that the bending moment across joint plates when Multi-joists are bolted together does not exceed 3.0 kNm |
